How places are offered

2027 policy: boys must either "attain satisfactory scoring across tests taken at The Harvey Grammar School" or "be selected for grammar school education by the Kent Age 11 assessment". The school's own standard is expected to correspond roughly to the top "25% of the age group nationally".

Passing either test makes a boy eligible. Oversubscription order after looked-after children: Pupil Premium boys living in Folkestone and Hythe district, then other boys living in the district. The own-test route is called the Shepway Test on the school website; the policy itself only refers to tests taken at the school.

Admission rules change each year. Always read the school's current admissions policy before you apply.

Facts on this page were checked in October 2026 against the school's published admission arrangements and Kent County Council. MeritLeap is not connected with this school.

About the test
